Great conversations make us feel good about ourselves and our place in the world, no matter how old we are. Orders, directions, and demands can make us feel resentful and annoyed. As educators in a sometimes stressful and time poor environment, we can unintentionally fall into a pattern of verbally directing and demanding when interacting with young children.
In this session, participants will explore 5 strategies to enhance their interactions and conversations with children. Participants will have the opportunity to discuss these strategies and reflect on their practices to enable them to finesse their communication strategies moving forward.
Completing 5 ways to better conversations with children will contribute 2 hours of PD addressing Standard 3 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers. Professional Practice Standard 3: Plan for and Implement Effective Teaching and Learning. This course may also contribute 2 hours of Elective PD to your maintenance of teacher accreditation requirements, in line with the current Elective PD Criteria https://www.educationstandards.nsw.edu.au/wps/portal/nesa/teacher-accreditation/professional-development/pd-requirements
